The Walter Rodney Reading Room
It’s been five decades since his seminal work was first published by Bogle-L’Ouverture in London, and 40 years since his assassination. The questions raised by Rodney in this formative book are as relevant in 2020 as they were in 1969. ‘The Reading Room’ is named after a militant study group inspired by the teachings of Rodney. The event was held on 7th of November and was chaired by Dr. Juanita Cox, who was joined in conversation with Dr. Toivo Asheeke, Dr. Maegan Miller and Dr. Sónia Vaz Borges. Grounded Revolutions
We are programming a series of digital roundtable discussions for late November 2020 titled ‘Grounded Revolutions: Notes to the future’. With the support from the Windrush Day Grant Fund, this series of discussions highlights the importance of making new archives and oral histories with an intergenerational focus on activism and community in the present day. We will be joined by special guests from music, education and activist backgrounds who are discussing how to cultivate self-care against the backdrop of oppression.
